Helen Werbicki

Lawyer

Helen grew up in rural Alberta, surrounded by fields and sloughs, both of which she still loves. She spent a year in Germany as an exchange student before obtaining a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree from McMaster University. She then spent a number of years working as an assistant English teacher in Japan before coming home to Alberta to manage a group of small family businesses for 16 years. She speaks both German and Japanese at a conversational level.

After training her successors, Helen was admitted to the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Law and obtained her degree with the help of a very supportive husband and children. She then articled in a small but mighty rural firm, working on a truly interesting range of matters. She was an associate for a number of years in an Edmonton firm with a focus on small business, including contract drafting, real estate, and wills and estate law. She is excited to join Morrison LLP and expand into family law and litigation.

Outside of work, Helen enjoys travelling, writing, and scrapbooking. Wherever she goes, she merrily drags friends and family to farmers markets and pop culture conventions. One of her favourite hobbies, however, is building Lego sets with her kids. She also has a dog and a cat to round out the family. She has not yet achieved her childhood aspirations of owning some donkeys and potbellied pigs but is working on it!

Helen is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association, and Christian Legal Fellowship.
