Patrick M. Smith
Associate Lawyer
Patrick is an Associate Lawyer practicing in the areas of Family Law and Civil Litigation. He joined Morrison LLP in May 2022.
Since being called to the Alberta Bar in October 2018, Patrick has acted as counsel for clients in Alberta Court of Justice and in the Court of King’s Bench.
Patrick received his Juris Doctor (with Distinction) from the University of Alberta in 2017. There he was elected Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Alberta Law Review. He won a number of awards, including the Pierre Mousseau Prize in Professional Responsibility. He was also a semi-finalist at the Donald G.H. Bowman National Tax Moot in 2016, where he and his teammate won the Best Factum (Appellant) Award.
Before law school, Patrick completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Honours) at McGill University in 2014. Summers he patrolled the Toronto waterfront as a beach lifeguard. He found his vocation on the shoreline, in guarding those who are vulnerable, and brings vigilance to every file he takes on.
Patrick is a creative thinker who finds novel solutions to tough problems. When he is not in the office, Patrick can be found spending time with his wife and participating in his church community.
